Just slide the bottom off, insert the batteries (which are included), insert them both, and close the cover. Then, just put it on your finger, press the on button, and within seconds, you have your readings!

I love that it comes with the needed batteries, a lanyard, and doesn't take more than a few seconds to get a reading. It would have been annoying to have to order batteries and a lanyard separately.
