Bottle Cutter & Glass Cutter Kit

The Bottle Cutter was designed to be the ultimate handheld bottle cutter. The cutting wheel is made from high-quality tungsten carbide steel that lasts over 200 cuts. It adjusts to fit round bottles with a circumference ranging from 43 to 102mm.

Features

  • This bottle cutter uses a durable metal holder and a high-quality plastic body that can make sure long service life and bottle being cut neatly.

  • Sturdier and easier to use than all other models, this highly durable bottle cutter will help you cutting bottles perfectly in a few steps.

  • With this method of recycling, you can turn many kinds of bottles into drinking glasses, vases, or other vessels.

  • Scoring Process: Insert a bottle into the Glass Bottle Cutter so that the cutting wheel lines up to the desired cutting location and adjust the screws until it grasps the bottle firmly but still allows it to easily turn.

  • Separation Process: Place a separation tie on each side of the scoreline and pour alternating streams of boiling and cold water to stress the glass. It can handle thick and thin bottles just fine, however, the thicker glass may require more cycles of boiling and cold water to force the separation.

  • Finishing Process: Apply sandpaper to easily remove any sharp edge. We tend to cut bottles with attractive painted labels because preserving paper labels is a challenge. The variety of bottles is endless, and so are the projects you can create with the Glass Bottle Cutter.

How to use

Adjust the cutter: Insert a glass bottle into the cutter and tighten the screw, make sure the cutting wheel can touch the bottle with pressure.

  • Cut a line on the bottle: This is exactly the same as making a score line when glass cutting. Using one hand rotate the cutter and another hand to keep the bottle sturdy. This will take practice if you have never used a cutter to cut glass before. Only cut around the bottle once.

I ordered this product and my wife and I have already split around 50 bottles. A good finished does require some practice and some elbow grease but this product makes it easy to split. They recommend doing hot water/cold water but I was using a candle/cold water and it seemed to make a cleaner split.

My mother in law showed me this glass cutter because I wanted to start making my own drinking glasses. I'm so glad she did. I've made 5 so far and it is easy to use and safe enough for kids to. Can't wait to see what else I can do with it.

So simple and easy, even for a novice. Tried it as soon as it arrived (I had watched the instructional video before purchasing) and first bottle came out perfect! Have been wanting a cutter for a while but never saw one I was comfortable with until this one. Only bad part is having to drink all the wine to get the bottles! Oh wait! Not a problem!

I didn't know how this was supposed to work until I read the instructions. This cuts a ridge/groove into the bottle and then it is the process of moving from near ice cold water to near boiling water until it separates. It took me all of two minutes to use this cutter on the bottle, and then 10-15 minutes with the bottle. I didn't have the right sized containers for the water at first or it wouldn't have even taken that long. I don't drink anymore but now I asked my husband to drink lots of wine so I can make more planters. He said, no problem! Thank you for this awesome product.

This has a learning curve and it took me a lot of tries to kind of get it right. Just know that you won’t succeed with every bottle. Here’s my method. Fill a 5 gallon bucket with hot water, soak the bottles for 10 minutes and remove labels. Use a razor for stubborn ones. Use acetone or some solvent to remove glue. I found if I placed the cutter on a lower surface it gave me the needed leverage to control the pressure needed to make a good score. With my first attempts, I poured the hot water over the score and I think it made for an uneven break that resulted in jagged edges and failure. I placed the boiling water in a tall, plastic pitcher which allowed me to submerge the entire score evenly. I use the bucket for the ice water. It takes practice but if you’re patient and don’t give up you’ll get the hang of it. Thankfully, we have glass recycling bins around here and it’s fun to go “shopping” for just the right bottles.

I am all about recycling and have been distressed about the number of glass containers we throw away so I thought I'd try my hand at turning them into vases or even if I got good enough, glasses. This kit has everything you need to cut bottles - even the gloves! I watched a couple of you tube videos before I started and of course began with a bottle I did not really care about since I was learning. It also comes with an ebook, which is very helpful. It is safe and easy to use - you just make a score along the area you want to cut and then put it in boiling then cold water and it comes right apart where scored. It makes a nice clean cut. It also comes with a flat glass cutter so I was able to cut a new shelf for my mini fridge that has been broken forever! It was simple to put together and easy to adjust - it is sure to provide lots of fun crafting hours for me!

I have to admit, after scouring through many different cutters and all of their reviews, I was skeptical. They were all so hit or miss. I finally settled on this one. The reviews looked pretty solid, the included ebook, price and warranty all added up to some hope. It arrived very quickly, and contrary to some of the reviews I've read, all five wheels were installed on the board!

The bottle cutter itself is honestly fantastic! The directions make it so simple, you can't really go wrong. I wish the depth options could allow for shorter or even longer bottles, but I can rig something up for that. You definitely have to make sure your hot and ice baths are extreme enough, but that's easy to do. The sandpaper works much better when the glass and paper are both wet. You get a beautifully smooth surface.

I was going to order this a while back but my husband talked me into getting a wet tile saw instead. I shouldn't have listened to him. The tile saw left the glass jagged and required LOTS of sanding and didn't always cut evenly. This you get an EVEN score almost every time!!! You then use the hot/cold water breaking method and the breaks are usually so smooth it will only require a little bit of sanding. I'm not going to lie, the hot/cold water method takes a while to get the hang of but once you get it, you're good. I cut about 20 bottles with this and did the hot/cold water method and only messed up a few bottles. I use both the tops and bottoms of the bottles to make things.
